James Holman

James joined Weightmans in 1989 and has 30 years of experience representing legal professionals in litigation and regulatory matters. Over the last 15 years, he has developed the firm’s risk management department, becoming Compliance officer for Legal Practice (COLP) in January 2013, a full-time role since 2018.

Currently reporting to James are the firm’s Legal Counsel, MLRO, DPO, Information Security and Business Continuity Manager, Audit Manager and Supplier Manager. 

James is our MLCO and ultimately responsible for our PI insurance programme, Lexcel, ISO27001, ISO22301 and all interactions with Regulators and Ombudsmen. James helped design our Audit and risk committee and sits as an advisory member. In 2022, he was appointed General Counsel and took up a position on the Board as strategic head of risk.
